A Scary Night Drive

This incident happened one of those random nights when I decided to hit the road just for the heck of it. The journey was normal except for what we saw while returning back on that notorious road which have claimed lives of numerous travelers in that stretch by means of gory accidents!  I call it the snake road as it is narrow and zig zaggy but attracts a huge and heavy traffic leading out of Mysore.  Most people will recognize it as Ooty Road via Nanjangud, Gundulpet and Bandipur.  This particular night, we had not intended to go to Ooty but just hit the road and enjoy the darkness of the night in the middle of the forest "Bandipur" and return back at the first light of the sun.  But nothing happens as we plan, specially when we tend to just jump out of the seat and decide to visit some wildlife at the middle of the night!

Encounter With The Unknown at 2:30 am

You might probably have heard a lot of Ghosts Stories!  This is just one among them.  Usually in a ghost story, a friend will tell you a story of his friend who had a friend who might have heard a ghost story probably experienced by his Uncle, Uncle's father, Aunty, Aunty's mother, Grand father, Grand mother or their Mother, Father or someone else whom you can never ever encounter in your life.  

Ride to Vani Vilasa Sagara Dam - Part 2

Long way:  After finally hitting the road, we started enjoying the ride.  the cool breeze, lush green farm lands on Mysore-Bangalore road and sun rising at a distant was a treat to watch.  Soon we passed the historical town of Srirangapatna and took a left deviation after we crossed the final bridge exiting the town.

Ride to Vani Vilasa Sagara Dam - Part 1

The Plan:  It so happened one Saturday in June 2013 that Surendra visited my Office at around 3 pm to handle some technical issues.  As usual, we were chatting about our travels when out of the blue Surendra started talking about this beautiful dam near Chitradurga!  The dam known as Vani Vilasa Sagara, he said was built by the King of Mysore by pledging royal jewels.
